Kenneth “Ken” F. Zukauckas

A Good Man and the Best Father -

Kenneth “Ken” F. Zukauckas, age 73, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.  Ken was born on Friday, April 12, 1946 in Richeyville to the late Frank Zukauckas and Helen (Butch) Zukauckas.

Ken’s survivors include his  loving wife of 43 years, Dorothy “Dot” Ann (Bauer) Zukauckas; his two sons: Kenneth “Ken” Zukauckas of State College and Brian Zukauckas of Lancaster; his brother, Richard “Rich” Zukauckas; his four sisters: Geraldine “Gerry” Mizerak, Marlene Burns, Bonnie Maydak and Diane Maydak; and several nieces and nephews.

Ken graduated from Beth-Center High School High School as part of the class of 1964 and then from the California University of Pennsylvania in 1969.  He retired as general manager from SuperValu in Bethlehem in 1999 after 35 years of service.  Ken loved Corvettes and owned many of them over the years starting with his 1969 Stingray and ending with his current Corvette, which is a 2011 Grand Sport Convertible.  He always enjoyed attending the car shows in Carlisle, especially the Corvette shows.  Reading was another passion of Ken’s seeing him read fiction, mysteries, suspense, newspapers, and various content online.  His passions also found him grocery shopping and in the kitchen cooking for his wife and boys.  Ken loved to cook and to experiment with food.  Brian fondly remembers enjoying leftover meatloaf sandwiches cold and with Heinz Ketchup with his father, as they would sit and talk.

Ken enjoyed living in his retirement home and community with his wife and surrounded by the good friends that they made.  He looked forward to working out at the gym, playing bocce ball, and socializing with his group of friends.  His creative side came out as he took up woodworking, building many wonderful pieces that proudly adorn his family’s homes.  Ken spent countless hours remodeling his son’s homes.  Ken and his wife, Dot, loved to travel yearly to Ocean City with their friends, Chris and Bob Rath, and cruising.  Ken and Dot also enjoyed travelling with Dot’s sister Cathy DiBattista and her husband Mike.  Ken was a good man, a great husband, and the best father.  He will be deeply missed and remembered forever.
