Caring and Dedicated Nurse -

Marilyn Jane Monn, age 89, of Newville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.  Jane was born on Wednesday, June 17, 1931, in Harrisburg to the late John Brechbill and Barbara Elva (Meyers) Monn.  In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her brother, Ward Ivan Monn; and her longtime friend, Betty Jane Oldham.

Jane’s survivors include her brother, John C. Monn and his wife, Sharon; her sister, Elizabeth Werner; her sister-in-law, Madeline Monn of McDonough, GA; several nieces and nephews; and her grand-nieces and nephews.

Jane graduated from The Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.  She stayed in the area for a year before heading to New Mexico to serve as a nurse at the Navajo Brethren in Christ Mission.  Jane then graduated from Messiah College in the 1960’s with a bachelor’s of science degree in Nursing.  She also served as a nurse throughout the South Central Pennsylvania area.

All are welcome to join Jane’s family for her in-person gathering of family and friends and virtual time of gathering at 10:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, and her virtual visitation at 10:50 a.m. via video chat or telephone on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, until time of service at 11:00 a.m.; with Pastor Lynda Gephart officiating.  Jane’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Burial will immediately follow the reception in Brechbill Cemetery in Chambersburg.  Cremation was private.
