Loved Family and Dogs -

Marla Kay (Roessler) Cook, age 75, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Santee, California, passed away while being comforted by her family on Sunday, June 28, 2020.  Marla was born on Saturday, November 18, 1944, in Burbank, CA to the late Lawrence Dale Roessler and Edna Blanche (Coleman) Roessler.  In addition to her parents, Marla is preceded in death by her sister, Cindy Lea Roessler.

Marla’s survivors include her sister, Linda Mae Forster and husband Larry of Mechanicsburg; her nephew, Scott Martin Forster of Mechanicsburg; her niece, LTC Sarah Louise Forster of St. Louis, MO; and her two canine companions, Shay and Kyle.

Marla was graduated from El Cajon Valley High School as part of the class of 1963 in El Cajon, California. She retired after 35 years as a Civil Servant as the Budget Officer for the Navy in San Diego, California.

Marla was an artist, winning awards in local showings for her work. She loved animals, especially dogs. Marla raised and trained Shetland Sheep dogs in agility, tracking, obedience, and scent work. She tirelessly volunteered her time and resources to various dog clubs in the San Diego area.

She lovingly cared for elderly family members. Her family fondly remembers her generosity to us and the wonderful memories of concerts, Comic Con, trips to the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park.

Her faith in Jesus as her Savior guided her through the ups and downs of life. She is now enjoying His presence in Heaven.

Marla’s family will be remembering her life privately.  Cremation was private.
