A Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother -

Mary Louise (Bigelow) Henderson, age 71, of Harrisburg, and formerly of Randolph, VT, passed away at UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic Hospital on Sunday, August 22, 2021.  Mary was born on Sunday, January 29, 1950, in Barre, VT to the late Arthur Garfield Bigelow and Dorothy Christine (Bartlett) Bigelow.  Mary was the widow of her first husband Robert “Bob” Wayne Henderson, whom she married in 1984, and who died on January 6, 1991.

Mary’s survivors include her husband of 24 years, Michael “Mike” William Weaver; her five children: Douglas “Doug” Dalby Henderson of York, Jeffrey “Jeff” Bartlett Henderson of Shiremanstown, Stacey Lynn Bluett and husband, Dave, of York, Kenneth “Kenny” Michael Weaver of Akron, Daniel Prescott Weaver and wife, Rebecca, of Somerset; her five precious grandchildren: David Michael Bluett, Jonathan Edward Bluett, Maddox Anthony Weaver, Crosby Havoc Weaver, Bennett Avery Weaver; her four siblings: Doris Graves of Randolph, VT, Cynthia Batten and husband, Les, of Londonderry, VT, Timothy Bigelow and wife, Tami, of Randolph Center, VT, Arthur “Larry” Bigelow of Albany, NY; her 19 nieces and nephews; her beloved canines: Sophie and Maggie; and her beloved felines: Bear and Annie.

Mary graduated from Randolph High School as part of the class of 1968.  She earned her Bachelor's Degree from University of Vermont in 1972, and went on to earn a Master’s Degree from DeSales University in 2008.  She worked in a variety of medical fields from hospital nursing, to public health nursing, to retirement and nursing home management, and eventually moved into product development in the medical insurance industry at Capital Blue Cross.

Mary loved her family fiercely.  She was, above all else, a loving, dedicated and supportive wife to her husband Mike, mother to her children and grandmother (Memaw) to her grandchildren.  Whatever her family was doing, Mary wanted to be involved.  She enjoyed watching the children and grandchildren play all kinds of sports and often got involved as the team mom.  She served as the committee chair of Cub Pack 52 for a number of years.  Mary enjoyed being active in the community.  She and Mike started the Shiremanstown Historical Society and she enjoyed visiting a local homeless community where she helped to provide food, clothing, blankets, tents and more.  Mary was a member of Road to Emmaus Presbyterian Church at 5050 Linglestown Road in Harrisburg where she was active in bible studies.  She loved to plant flowers in the spring when she was able and she enjoyed the small family vegetable garden as long as there were tomatoes galore.  Mary was an avid bird watcher with feeders on all sides of the home. Doves and cardinals were her favorites.

All are welcome to join Mary’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 2:30 p.m. until time of memorial service at 3:30 p.m., all at Road to Emmaus Presbyterian Church, 5050 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112; with Reverend Wayne Lowe officiating.
