Mervin Frederick Smith, Jr.

Loving Father, Grandfather, & Brother -

 

Mervin “Merv” Frederick Smith, Jr., age 63, of Dillsburg, went home on Friday, January 24, 2020.  Merv was born on Tuesday, October 16, 1956 in York to the late Mervin Frederick Smith, Sr. and Ruth Naomi (Bankert) Smith.  Merv was the widower of Connie Louise (Bell) Smith, whom he married on August 31, 1975, and who died on April 12, 2004.  In addition to his parents and wife, Merv is preceded in death by his daughter, Athena Marie Wolfe; and his brother, Robert Lee Smith.

Merv’s survivors include his son, Mervin Frederick Smith, III of Dillsburg; his two grandchildren: Clayton Lee Wolfe of Dillsburg, Chani Wolfe of Dillsburg; his sister, Sandra Mort of York; his mother-in-law, Shirley Ann Bell of Lewisberry; his two sisters-in-law, Susan Clemens and her husband, Charles, of Harrisburg and Shirlene Miller and her husband, David, of Mechanicsburg; his brother-in-law, George Bell and his wife, Gladys, of Richmond, VA; his two nieces; his two nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Oscar.

All are welcome to join Merv’s family on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. for his time of remembrance; with Pastor Jeff Swanger officiating.  Merv’s family invites everyone to his gathering of family and friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. immediately following the service, all at Big Bottom Brewery – Home of Al’s Pizza, 6 Tristan Drive, Dillsburg, PA 17019.  Cremation was private.
