Found the Good in Others -

Nancy Louise (Gochenauer) Hornberger, age 79, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, January 15, 2021.  Nancy was born on Friday, October 10, 1941, in Harrisburg to the late Warren Gochenauer and Esther Evangeline (Slusser) Gochenauer.  In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her two brothers: Clair “Lefty” Gochenauer and David Gochenauer.

Nancy’s survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dean L. Hornberger; her two children: Eric Andrew Hornberger and wife Kristen of Mount Wolf, Heidi Lynne Milbrand and husband Donald of Bristol NH; her two grandchildren: Abigail Hornberger, Jacob Hornberger; her brother, Daryl Gochenauer and wife Jan’et of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1959.  She was passionate in her faith as well as a very involved lifelong member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg.  Nancy served on both the church council and worship music committee.  Additionally, she taught Sunday school for most of her life.  Nancy enjoyed sewing and would sew for other people out of her home.  She also liked to garden and tend to her flower beds, especially the many perennial plants she grew.  Nancy was very active with her high school classmates and helped to organize their class reunions.  She was a student of history and liked researching her genealogy.  Nancy will be remembered for how she was always looking out for the little person and finding the good in people; she would give anyone the shirt off her back.  Above all else, family meant the world to her.
