Norman William Kauffman

Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather -

Norman William Kauffman, age 87, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home and surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.  Norman was born on Wednesday, May 2, 1934, in Harrisburg to the late Daniel Kauffman and Nora (Groff).  In addition to his parents, Norman is preceded in death by his daughter: Christine Fouts; and his seven siblings:  Daniel, Franklin and Robert Kauffman, Marguerite Decker, Mildred Fratelli, Nancy Whitman and Helen Handshaw.

Norman is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy Jean (Brandt) Kauffman; his two children: Rick William Kauffman and wife, Susan, of Elizabethtown, Wendy Jean Polito and husband, Keith, of Lewisberry; his five grandchildren: Nikolas, Sarah, Garrett, Logan and Hannah, and his several nieces and nephews.

One of Norman's biggest accomplishments was being a proud father and always wanting to be near his children. With great pride for his entire family, he was happiest when he was spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was driven by a strong work ethic, to provide for his family and gave everything he could to make their lives better. His trademark strong-will and stubbornness, which will not be forgotten, earned him the nickname of 'Stormin' Norman' but always had a soft-heart to those closest to him.

Norman’s family will be celebrating his life privately.  Interment in St. John’s Cemetery in Mechanicsburg will be at the family’s convenience.  Cremation was private.

Norman’s family has entrusted his care to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421.  Read Norman’s full obituary, view his photograph, offer condolences and sympathy, share stories and memories, upload photographs and videos, light a candle and sign his official guest book by visiting Buhrig.com
