A Positive Person -

Paul H. Statler, age 75, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 24, 2019.  Paul was born on Thursday, June 22, 1944 in Chambersburg to the late Paul Statler and Charlotte “Lottie”  (Hege) Statler.  In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by, Alice “Al” M. Byers, whom he thought of as a second mother.

Paul’s survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Jan E. (Imm) Statler; his two children: Todd Wesley Statler and his wife, Iris, of Mechanicsburg, Lauren Christina Statler of Mechanicsburg; his two granddaughters: Madison Marie Statler, Sydney Alice Statler; his sister, Janet H. Droll of Warrington; and several nieces and nephews.

Paul graduated from Chambersburg High School as part of the 1962 class. He then graduated from Central Pennsylvania Business School in 1964. Paul retired as Vice President- Marketing after 46 years with Forklifts, Inc./Equipment Depot in Mechanicsburg. Paul was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown. He was a former member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran in Mechanicsburg, where he served on Church council, and as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Paul was a member of the George Washington Lodge No.143 F&AM in Chambersburg, The Mechanicsburg Club, and a lifetime member of the Train Collectors Association in Strasburg. Paul enjoyed playing tennis and racquetball. He had a true passion for all sports, especially baseball as he spent many years coaching for Mechanicsburg Little League. He was an ardent fan of the New York Yankees. In addition to his athletic interests, he also collected model trains; and was an avid reader, who amassed a large library. He will also be remembered for enjoying his time mowing the lawn on his tractor. Paul was known as a “food enthusiast”, who loved to eat delicious meals and try new dishes. He cherished the time with his loved ones. Paul traveled extensively for both business and pleasure. Many memories were made on family vacations on Kelly’s Island.  His family will always remember his laugh and smile; which personified the positive attitude that he had each and every day. Paul instilled this positive outlook in his family, colleagues, and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

All are welcome to join Paul’s family on Saturday, January 11, 2020 for his memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 44 West Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with The Reverend Sarah M. Keilholtz officiating.  The family will not be greeting guests at the church.  Paul’s family invites everyone to join them for an open house greeting of family and friends at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. where the family will greet guests and everyone is invited to enjoy some of Paul’s favorite Jo Jo’s Pizza & Pasta food.  Cremation was private.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Artis Senior Living and Homeland Hospice who so lovingly cared for Paul during his lengthy illness.
