A Loving Father -

Robert Thomas Newbury, age 62, of Newport, and formerly of Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.  Robert was born on Friday, August 28, 1959, in Shamokin to Robert Marlin Newbury and Margaret “Peg” Catherine (Bartholomew) Greenly.

Robert’s survivors include his wife of 27 years, Felicia (Ensor) Newbury of Harrisburg; his two daughters: Samantha “Sam” Rose Newbury and Selina “Bean” Catherine Newbury; his mother, Margaret “Peg” Catherine (Bartholomew) Greenly and husband, Al, of Etters; his father, Robert Marlin Newbury and wife, Lorraine, of Ocean City, MD; his two siblings: Theresa “Terri” Solenberger and husband, Keith, of Mechanicsburg, Jeffrey “Jeff” Newbury and fiancé, Julia Yoder, of Marysville; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companions: Peach and Bella.

Robert spent his early school years in the Central Dauphin School District, and he later graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1977.  After high school, Robert attended the University of Miami, Florida and later Kutztown University.  Robert loved his daughters Samantha and Selina.  He enjoyed spending time reading to them, discussing the world, and playing games with them.  He dedicated a great deal of time working in his store, Cosmic Comics.  He was an avid reader, movie watcher, trivia buff, science fiction fan, Penn State football fan, and Washington Football Team fan.  Robert also enjoyed working out, working in his yard, participating in fantasy football, playing golf, and discussing politics.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Mike Meck of Newport who helped Robert during the last phase of his life.  We truly appreciate the generosity, kindness, and friendship that Mike showed to Robert.

All are welcome to join Robert’s family at his visitation on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m., all at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 6150 Allentown Boulevard, Harrisburg, PA 17112.  Cremation was private.
