Robert “Bob” James Johnson, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 26, 2023.  Bob was born on Saturday, January 11, 1941, in Punxsutawney to the late James Johnson and Inez (Pierce) Johnson.

Bob’s survivors include his wife of 63 years, Carol Louise (Gaston) Johnson; his three daughters: Vickie Widmann and her significant other, John, of Mechanicsburg; Pamela “Pam” Flick of Frederick, MD; Lori Hoffmaster of Mechanicsburg; his seven grandchildren: Nicholas, Mark, Nathan, Cory, Kyle, Megan, Nicole; his great-granddaughter, Marlee; and his beloved canine companion, Sammie.

Robert “Bob” Johnson was a retired engineer at Harley-Davidson in York, PA.  Bob enjoyed riding his Harley, bass fishing, and camping at Cedar Lake Campground in Dover, PA.  He was a big Pittsburgh Steelers and Nascar fan all his life and really enjoyed going out to breakfast with his buddies.  He also loved 1950’s Classic Rock and, especially, loved the music of Elvis Presley.  Bob also enjoyed traveling to other countries, learning about new cultures, and watching nature/wildlife shows on National Geographic.  Bob loved riding with the Motorcycle Club and the Harleys he had over the decades, but he really loved his Harley-Davidson Trike.  He continued to ride until he was 80 years old and found a lot of joy from motorcycle riding.  Bob was patriotic, unapologetic, generous in empathy and truly a one-of-a kind person.  He will be missed greatly by his family and friends – Keep Riding Bob!!

Bob’s family will be honoring his life with a private service at a later date.  Cremation was private.
