Shawn Alan House

Shawn Alan House, age 55, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2020.  Shawn was born on Tuesday, September 1, 1964, in Mechanicsburg to Grace Ellen (Gutshall) House and the late Roger Jay House.  In addition to his father, Shawn was preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Grace Shank, in 2013.

Shawn’s survivors include his wife Terry Lee (Cockrell) House; his mother Grace Ellen House of Mechanicsburg; his two siblings: Michael House and wife Rose of Enola, Laurie Raines and husband Jim of Fenwick Island, DE; his nephew Jonathan and wife Ashlee of West Chester; and his feline companion Kayto.

Shawn was a fun-loving, caring person.  He loved animals and had a very unusual variety of pets, including an African sulcata tortoise and a ball python.  He enjoyed being outdoors and also took pride in his cooking abilities.  Shawn was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who was in need.  Sadly, he had a constant struggle with addiction to alcohol and drugs.  That’s what took his life.  We miss him but He is Free!

Shawn’s immediate services will be private with public services to be announced when scheduled.  Private interment in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be held at the family’s convenience.  Cremation was private.
