Stanley Edward Thompson

Stanley Edward Thompson, age 51, of Apex, NC, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019.  Stanley was born on Friday, November 24, 1967 in Harrisburg.  Stanley’s survivors include his loving parents, George and Jean Thompson; his sister, brother-in-law and niece.

Stanley’s youth saw him enjoy many sports including football and baseball and he was active in both the Cub Scouts and a Boy Scouts.  Stanley graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1986 and immediately upon graduation he entered the United States Army where he served in Kentucky, Indiana, Germany, and Kansas.  Upon discharge from the Army, Stanley attended and graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  During his childhood and when his travels found him at home in Pennsylvania, Stanley attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Camp Hill.  He very much enjoyed hiking and walking and spent a significant amount of time enjoying the Appalachian Trail.

Stanley’s family will be celebrating his life privately and at their convenience which will include burial with military honors in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
